# Pricing

> What Proof costs and how to control how often it runs.

You pay for the compute and tokens Proof uses. No seats, no per-run fee.

| Sandbox compute | \$0.002 per vCPU per minute |
| Tokens | Model provider's rate + \$0.20 per million |

Proof boots your app on an 8 vCPU sandbox, so a minute of Proof working costs \$0.016 in compute. The per-million fee covers every token the model reads or writes, cached ones included.

## Control how often it runs

* Pick **When I ask** in [Settings → Proof](https://app.blacksmith.sh/settings/proof) and Proof only runs when someone asks for it.
* Write [Proof rules](https://docs.blacksmith.sh/proof/proof-md.md) to skip PRs your team doesn't need checked, like dependency bumps or infra.
* Without rules, Proof already skips PRs that only touch tests, docs, CI or formatting.
* Admins can set a monthly \[code]smith spend limit in [Settings](https://app.blacksmith.sh/settings). Proof counts toward it and stops starting new runs once you hit the limit.

## Billing

Proof is billed incrementally and lands on the same invoice as the rest of your Blacksmith usage. To see what Proof alone has cost, open the **Proof** tab in [Usage and Billing](https://app.blacksmith.sh/usage?tab=proof).

If a charge fails, Proof and \[code]smith may pause until the invoice is paid. CI runners keep running. Pay it from [Usage and Billing](https://app.blacksmith.sh/usage) to pick back up.
